Night-time Snacking

This week I stayed on the healthy food bandwagon and I felt better for it.  The only downside...evening starvation.  Before my change in habits I seldom ate after dinner, but all these veggies have me craving carbs at night.  I am not low on calories for the day, but my stomach just feels empty.  This has me seeking out healthy night-time snack options.  If you know of any please share as a few blogger friends have been trying to come up with ideas themselves.

Fruit
apple with peanut butter
strawberries with banana yogurt (looked yummy so I will have to try)
grapes

Veggies
edamame (if I can only find it)
celery with cream cheese or peanut butter

Nuts
pistachios
almonds

Grains
small bowl of Special K/Cheerios
Arrowroot cookies
graham crackers with cream cheese or peanut butter
toast
Smartfood popcorn
small bowl of oatmeal with frozen blueberries

Dairy
yogurt with granola
Babybel cheese
cottage cheese with pineapple

Other
vanilla tea
miso soup

  2. Amber,

I am sorry to be the barer of bad news, but Smartfood popcorn is just as bad as regular chips! Plain air popped is the best option, even if you put a little bit of (2 tbsp) on 2-3 cups, it far better than Smart food. I speak from experience on this one! I feel your pain on the healthy nighttime snacks, I am huge night snacker even if I am not hungry. It is the reason I can't get rid of my last 10 pounds, that and dairy!

If you like Chickpea's you can roast them with chili powder or other topping for a crunchy tasty treat.

I have seen Edamame at the Super store, Costco and Ming's downtown usually has it.

    1. Thanks Evelyn. What makes you think Smartfood popcorn is bad? You can get the 100 calorie snack bags for a quick and tasty treat.

  3. Opps, my reply didn't post...

Smartfood is high in sodium 290mg/oz and fat at 10g of fat per 1 oz, eating a 100 cal pack would be slightly less than 290 and 10g, however, me personally, I would never stop at 1 package! So if you do, then I give you kudo's! :)
